Frequently Asked Questions

Fast Facts

Pennsylvania Girlchoir (PG) is a nondenominational, community-based choir that is home to more than 170 youth between the ages of 7 and 18 from diverse backgrounds. Rehearsals take place at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill at 8855 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118. PG is a tuition-based program. Scholarships are available. PG is part of the Commonwealth Youthchoirs family.

Do you need to have prior singing experience to be accepted into PG?

No! Luckily, everyone can learn to sing.

What is expected of PG members?

PG members are expected to sing and behave professionally whenever they are representing PG. Singers are expected to arrive promptly for all rehearsals, performances and PG events; to treat all members of the PG family with respect; and to have fun!

Where does PG perform?

Performances vary! We sing on the most storied stages in our region and also in senior living homes, museums and local events. We perform full concerts and we also enjoy small performances. PG has had the opportunity to sing on TV, radio, broadway stages and in music halls around the world.

Do all the choir members travel?

We encourage singers to consider traveling with us at some point in their career (most singers are in choir for at least 6 years!) because it is an amazing experience, but a singer can be a full choir member without traveling. Participation in PG and Commonwealth Youthchoirs national and international concert tours is reserved for members of the Choir who are in good standing (i.e., good attendance, behavior, etc.) Some scholarship support is available to assist with travel.

What is KSB?
